Former Super Eagles striker, Brown Ideye, has officially called time on his playing career, bringing the curtain down on a journey that lasted more than a decade and left a lasting mark on Nigerian football.
The 36-year-old, who last featured for Enyimba International, confirmed his decision on Tuesday in an emotional statement shared via his social media handles. He described the move as one filled with “mixed emotions,” noting that it came after deep reflection.
“I’m grateful for everything football has given me – the joy, the tough days, the chance to travel the world, and the friendships I will carry for life,” Ideye said.
Over the years, Ideye carved out a reputation as a dependable forward, starring for clubs across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
His career highlights include spells at Dynamo Kyiv, West Bromwich Albion, and Olympiakos, where he delivered memorable goals and lifted silverware.
On the international stage, Ideye remains best remembered for his role in Nigeria’s triumph at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in South Africa under the late coach Stephen Keshi.
