ROOTED Conference 2025 Moves to MUSON Centre, Focuses on Preserving African Identity

In response to growing concerns over cultural erosion among African children, the much-anticipated ROOTED Conference 2025 will now hold at the iconic MUSON Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Saturday, August 23.

Originally scheduled for Guiding Light Assembly, Ikoyi, the switch to MUSON reflects what organisers describe as a “season of expansion,” offering a larger, more accessible venue for parents, educators, cultural leaders, and policymakers.

Themed around the urgent need to preserve African heritage in an age of globalization, ROOTED will feature keynote speeches, cultural showcases, indigenous language revival workshops, and panel discussions aimed at reconnecting children with their roots.

Organisers say the event is not just a conference but a movement to ignite pride in African traditions, languages, and values at a time when many young Africans feel more connected to foreign cultures than their own.

“ROOTED is about growth. When you are deeply rooted, reaching higher is only natural,” said RonkePosh, one of the conveners.

The conference comes as African societies face increasing pressure from modernization and digital globalization, raising fears that indigenous languages and traditions could disappear if urgent action is not taken.
