PDP Govs Meet in Zamfara Ahead of Party Convention

Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party will converge in Gusau, Zamfara State, on Saturday, August 23, 2025, for a strategic meeting hosted by Governor Dauda Lawal.

In a statement released on Friday, August 22, the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala, confirmed that the governors would begin arriving in the state later in the evening for a dinner reception before holding a closed-door meeting the following day.

Bala explained that the forum was designed to strengthen unity among party leaders and deliberate on critical political matters shaping the future of the PDP.

“Governor Dauda Lawal extends a warm welcome to his counterparts, the governors of the Peoples Democratic Party,” the statement read.

It continued, “The governors are convening today (Friday) for an important session of the PDP Governors Forum. Governor Lawal will host a dinner this evening, ahead of tomorrow’s strategic meeting.”

The statement further noted that discussions would focus on pressing political issues, improved collaboration on governance, and collective preparations for the PDP national convention scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
