Burna Boy, Davido, Shallipopi, Rema, Ayra Starr Shine as AFRIMA 2025 Nominations Roll Out

Nigerian stars Burna Boy, Davido, Shallipopi, Rema, and Ayra Starr lead the charge at the 2025 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), with multiple nods across major categories.

Both Burna Boy and Davido stand tall with five nominations each. Their projects Burna Boy’s No Sign of Weakness and Davido’s 5ive made the cut for Album of the Year.

They also landed recognition for Song of the Year and Best Collaboration through their chart-topping singles.

South Africa’s DJ Maphorisa matched their record with five nominations, including Album of the Year and Best African DJ.

Moroccan rapper El Grande Toto also secured five slots, thanks to his smash records Salgoat and Diplomatico.

Street-pop sensation Shallipopi earned four nominations, among them Song of the Year and Artiste of the Year.

Tanzanian heavyweight Diamond Platnumz received four nods as well, while South African singer Tyla joined the pack with four.

Juma Jux, another Tanzanian act, grabbed three nominations, with his single Ololufe mi making it into the Song of the Year category.

Nigerians Rema and Ayra Starr were not left behind, each clinching three nominations.

Recall that back in May, organisers confirmed that Nigeria will serve as host nation for AFRIMA 2025.
