Zulum, N’East Govs Press Tinubu on 17 Roads, Oil Push

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, on Wednesday, the 3rd of September, 2025, led his colleagues from the North East to a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The discussion focused on infrastructure and economic priorities for the region, with emphasis on completing 17 key road projects and reviving oil exploration at Kolmani and the Lake Chad frontier wells.

Present at the meeting were Gombe Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, Bauchi Governor Bala Muhammad, Yobe Governor Mai Mala Buni, Adamawa Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, and Taraba Governor Agbu Kefas.

As chairman of the North East Governors’ Forum, Zulum called on the president to speed up the delivery of major road networks, including Kano–Maiduguri Road, Port Harcourt–Jos–Bauchi–Maiduguri Railway line, Bama–Mubi–Yola Road, Wukari–Jalingo–Yola Road, Bauchi–Gombe–Biu–Damaturu Road, Damaturu–Geidam Road, Gombe–Potiskum–Damaturu–Biu Road, Maiduguri–Monguno–Baga Road and Maiduguri–Ngala–Bama–Banki Road.

He noted that these projects would strengthen trade, agriculture, and security across the six states.

The governors also pressed for renewed federal commitment to oil exploration in Kolmani and Lake Chad, which they said would open up new economic opportunities and provide jobs for residents.

Responding to their requests, President Tinubu assured the delegation that his administration remained committed to bridging infrastructure gaps and driving economic progress in the North East.
