2027: South-East Will Stun Nation with Tinubu Votes, Obi Irrelevant – Shittu

Former Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, has predicted that President Bola Tinubu will record an unexpected level of support from the Southeast in the 2027 elections.

Shittu argued that the widely debated “Obi factor” would not alter the outcome of the polls.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Wednesday, the 3rd of September, 2025, he declared: “And today, if you know the amount of votes that will be coming from even the South East for APC, you’ll be shocked.”

The Oyo-born politician highlighted the growing strength of the All Progressives Congress in the zone, crediting the influence of Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, for drawing more people into Tinubu’s camp.

“Even the people from the South East, with the efforts of people like Dave Umahi and so many others, a lot of people are getting convinced to come the Tinubu route,” he explained.

Shittu also brushed aside suggestions that Peter Obi, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential flagbearer, would continue to shape voter sentiment in the region.

“It doesn’t matter. What is important is for Tinubu to win. Even if to win by 10 votes, I can assure you that Bola Ahmed Tinubu is going to win,” he maintained.
