Seven Injured as Bandits Attack Commercial Vehicles in Sokoto

Seven passengers sustained injuries when armed bandits attacked commercial vehicles in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto state.

According to a post shared by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, on Thursday, the attack occurred on Wednesday, September 10 at about 8 p.m.

It was gathered that a large number of armed bandits, bearing AK-47 rifles, blocked the road between Kogoho Lambar Tofa and Kogogo Rijiya villages under Rabah District.

Reports further indicate that the bandits opened fire on three commercial vehicles conveying passengers from Achida Market to Rabah town.

“The drivers refused to stop and managed to escape, but seven of their passengers sustained various degrees of injuries,”the post read.

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA were swiftly deployed to the scene.

The security forces engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to retreat with possible bullet wounds.

The victims were rushed to Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) for treatment.

Reports also disclosed that intensified patrols had been mounted along the highway to forestall further attacks.
