Tunji-Ojo Dismiss Claims of Rift With Gov Ayedatiwa

Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has rejected claims that he is at loggerheads with Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, describing the claim as a product of social media mischief.

The speculation, fuelled by supporters of both politicians, suggested the two were locked in a cold war.

Tunji-Ojo addressed the matter on Thursday, September 11, during a free medical outreach in Ikare Akoko, Akoko North-East Local Government Area.

Speaking through his aide, Bode Obanla, the minister stressed that his focus remained on initiatives that promote President Bola Tinubu’s achievements.

He said, “Politics is local. My duty is to support any genuine group committed to promoting the good work of Mr. President. There is no fight between me and the governor. What matters is that we work together to project the achievements of Asiwaju.”

He further noted that his position in Abuja had not distanced him from his home state.

In a related development, elders of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo, under the Ondo Mandate Elders Forum, also dismissed talk of discord between the two leaders.

The elders, who gathered on Wednesday at the Akure home of their chairman, Chief Erastus Alejo, said the priority was strengthening party unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Facilitator of the meeting, Dr Demola Ijabiyi, said the group was not aware of any clash.

He said, “We said we do not recognise any discord between Governor Aiyedatiwa and Bunmi Tunji-Ojo.

“The dispute is on social media due to the imagination

of social media influencers. We did not say that we would reconcile them as there is nothing on the ground to warrant reconciliation.”

Ijabiyi added that the elders were focused on mobilising support to ensure a resounding victory for President Tinubu in 2027.
