Security: Mutfwang to Recruit 1,000 Plateau Youths into Operation Rainbow

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has announced plans to recruit over 1,000 youths into Operation Rainbow, the state’s community security outfit, to strengthen grassroots defence and boost public confidence in safety.

The commitment was disclosed on Monday, September 15, in a post on X by the Directorate of Press.

According to the statement, Mutfwang made the pledge on Sunday at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Jos during the opening of the 2025/2026 Legal Year, which drew judges, clerics, and legal practitioners.

“By the grace of God, we will soon recruit over 1,000 youths who will be posted back to their communities as both the first and last line of defense, complementing conventional security agencies,” Mutfwang said.

He described security as a shared responsibility and assured citizens that his administration is determined to make Plateau better than it was met.

The governor also used the occasion to address judicial challenges, highlighting ongoing efforts to clear outstanding entitlements of retired judges while urging judicial officers to exercise discretion with integrity.

Clerics and judicial leaders at the service commended his peacebuilding agenda. Rev. Fr. Paul Pam praised Mutfwang’s unity-driven approach and infrastructure efforts, while Plateau Chief Judge, Justice David Mann, prayed for wisdom and protection for the judiciary in the new legal year.

Mutfwang reaffirmed his broader vision of justice, security, and unity, stressing that the youth recruitment drive is a step toward restoring peace and stability in Plateau communities.
