The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a 48-year-old man in connection with the alleged defilement of a 12-year-old girl in the Mini Orlu area of Port Harcourt.
The suspect, identified as Emmanuel George, a resident of Rumu-Evolu Road, was apprehended following a swift response to a distress call on the evening of September 6, 2025.
​According to a press release from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the incident occurred while the young girl was on an errand for her aunt.
The victim, who was visiting for the holidays, was reportedly approached by the suspect while she was buying food along the street. George allegedly dragged the girl into a parked tricycle, tied her hands, and covered her mouth before committing the act. He then fled the scene.
​Police operatives from the CP Strike Force were immediately dispatched to the location. They ensured the victim received prompt medical attention at the Police Hospital in Port Harcourt.

Within hours, a coordinated intelligence effort led to the suspect’s arrest at approximately 10:00 PM on the same day.
​During the interrogation, George reportedly confessed to the crime. Police have recovered several items believed to be connected to the incident, including a rope used to tie the victim, a wrap of fufu, and a blue tricycle.
​The suspect and the recovered exhibits are currently in police custody as a discreet investigation continues. The Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, has reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to prosecuting criminals to the fullest extent of the law.
He also issued a strong warning to parents and guardians to be vigilant and closely monitor their children, as “such predators are within our neighborhood.” He urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police or security agencies.
