Atiku Joins ADC Stakeholders Meeting, Decries Poverty and Insecurity

Former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed solidarity with the Coalition African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing its stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja as a platform for citizens to unite against what he termed the “oligarchs who promote poverty and insecurity.”

Atiku made the remarks in a post on his official X handle on Thursday, noting that the gathering represented the collective voice of Nigerians determined to chart a new course for the nation.

“The stakeholders’ meeting of the ADC in Abuja is not just another political event. It is the meeting of the Nigerian people against the oligarchs who promote poverty and insecurity in the land,” he wrote.

The ADC, one of Nigeria’s opposition parties, has positioned itself as a coalition force aimed at challenging the dominance of established political structures while advocating governance reforms.

Atiku’s comment comes amid rising concerns over Nigeria’s economic hardship, inflation, unemployment, and lingering security crises. His alignment with the ADC’s cause is seen by observers as a signal of growing momentum among opposition voices seeking to amplify calls for accountability and people-driven leadership.

The Abuja meeting brought together political stakeholders, civil society actors, and grassroots representatives to deliberate on strategies for strengthening democracy, improving governance, and tackling insecurity across the country.
