Spotify has unveiled its ranking of the ‘Top 5 Female Afrobeats Artists In The Last 12 Months’, with Ayra Starr taking the crown.
The platform described her as “the pop star of Afrobeats”.
Tems, the Grammy award-winning Nigerian singer, came second, while American-Cameroonian act Libianca secured the third spot. Aya Nakamura from Mali and France ranked fourth, and British-Nigerian Darkoo wrapped up the list at number five.
Interestingly, South Africa’s Tyla, who swept multiple Afrobeats awards in the past year, did not make the cut.

Spotify also shared its list of the Top 5 Afrobeats Artists In Latin America, which was dominated solely by Nigerians.
Rema claimed first place, Ayra Starr followed closely in second, and CKay ranked third. Burna Boy and Wizkid occupied the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.
