The Nigeria Police Force on Saturday, September 27, 2025, mounted a Guard of Honour in Abuja for the late former Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase, as his remains departed for Edo State ahead of his burial.
The parade was held at the Force Headquarters, where senior officers and other personnel gathered to pay their final respects to the 18th Inspector-General of Police.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development in a statement on X, noting that the tribute was in recognition of Arase’s meritorious service to the nation.
Arase, who led the police between April 2015 and June 2016, introduced reforms aimed at strengthening intelligence-led policing and fostering community partnerships.
His tenure was widely acknowledged for efforts to modernize police operations.

The late police chief, a native of Edo State, passed away earlier in September 2025.
His final rites are scheduled to hold in his hometown, with top government officials, traditional rulers, colleagues, and associates expected to be in attendance.
The Nigeria Police Force described him as a visionary leader whose contributions left a lasting mark on policing in the country.
