The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has intensified its campaign against crime, directing all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to step up patrols and conduct immediate raids on suspected criminal hideouts, including uncompleted and abandoned buildings.
The directive, which takes effect immediately, was issued by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, in a statement released on Tuesday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh.
According to Adeh, the move is part of proactive efforts to deny criminals safe havens across the capital territory.
She noted that abandoned and ongoing construction sites have increasingly become hideouts for criminal elements.

In line with this, the police urged property developers to liaise with the nearest police divisions to ensure that all security personnel, artisans, and labourers residing or working at construction sites are properly documented and profiled before the end of October 2025.
CP Ajao also directed that DPOs must conduct routine patrols of such areas and apprehend any unidentified persons found loitering around construction sites after 6:00 p.m.
Furthermore, the police chief reiterated that scavenging activities, commonly known as “Baban Bola,” remain strictly banned within the FCT.
Residents have been encouraged to remain vigilant and promptly report any scavengers or suspicious individuals spotted within their neighbourhoods to the nearest police station.
