Outrage as Enugu Mother Accuses Teacher of Flogging Three-Year-Old

A woman identified as Jennifer Nwafor has accused her daughter’s school in Abakpa Nike, Enugu State, of attempting to shield a teacher who allegedly flogged her three-year-old child, leaving visible welts on the child’s legs.

The incident came to light after Nwafor shared a series of videos on Facebook on Monday, showing her visibly distraught and confronting staff members of the unnamed school while demanding to see the teacher responsible.

In one of the viral clips, Nwafor could be heard saying, “They are hiding the teacher; they are refusing to bring her out because all of them are involved. Look at my child, a child of three years. They should provide the teacher—I’m not going anywhere until I see the teacher that flogged my three-year-old child like that.”

Accompanying the videos, Nwafor wrote in her post, “See what a teacher did to my child in school today. A three years old child. Guys, I’m bleeding right now. They employed a mad woman as a teacher and hid her.”

Following the public outcry, Nwafor provided an update on Tuesday, revealing that her daughter developed a fever after the incident but was receiving treatment. She added that the school authorities had scheduled a meeting regarding the matter and promised to share the outcome.

The videos have since gone viral, drawing widespread condemnation from social media users.

A commenter, Becca John, wrote, “Nursery pupils are still very tender to be given this kind of maltreatment.” Another user, Sunday Nebo, urged restraint, writing, “Two wrongs can’t make a right. At worst, report the matter to the police or any appropriate authority.”

As of the time of filing this report, neither the school management nor relevant education authorities in Enugu have issued an official statement regarding the allegations.
