Nottingham Forest have parted ways with head coach Ange Postecoglou after just 39 days in the job, bringing to an end one of the briefest managerial tenures in Premier League history.
The club announced his dismissal on Saturday, October 18, 2025, shortly after a 3–0 defeat to Chelsea at the City Ground, Forest’s latest setback in a difficult start to the season.
The result left the team second from bottom on the table with only two points from eight matches.
Postecoglou, who was appointed on September 9, 2025, on a two-year deal, failed to secure a single victory during his spell, recording six losses and two draws.
His dismissal came less than 20 minutes after the final whistle, underscoring the club’s growing frustration with the team’s form.
Confirming the decision, Nottingham Forest said in an official statement:
“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as Head Coach with immediate effect.”
The Australian coach struggled to adapt his attacking, high-pressing style to the squad, with Forest conceding 18 goals while scoring just four during his brief tenure.

Reports from local outlets suggested discontent among players over tactical adjustments and frequent lineup changes.
Assistant coach Steven Reid has been placed in interim charge while the club begins its search for a permanent replacement.
According to reports, former Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui and ex-Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca are among the possible candidates.
