The Police Service Commission (PSC) has concluded 24 appeal cases and one pending disciplinary matter during its ongoing plenary meeting held at the Solomon Arase Conference Hall, Abuja, over the weekend.

In a statement released on its website on Monday, the Commission announced that it dismissed the petition against Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Bzigu Yakubu Kwazhi Dali, describing the allegations of falsified enlistment date and record irregularities as frivolous.

The PSC further nullified a warning letter earlier issued to Dali, declaring it “null and void” as it did not emanate from the Commission. It also reversed the adjustment of his date of birth from April 10, 1967, to April 10, 1966.

The Commission also reviewed the case of ACP Ejiofor Grace Obiageli, whose compulsory retirement followed the September 8, 2023, incident at Old Netim Division, Cross River State. It approved her reinstatement from the date of her retirement, directing that she be properly placed with her colleagues.

Additionally, ACP Muhammad Awwal Yunusa was freed from a punishment of severe reprimand, while the rank of CSP Ihekandu Allwell Okwuonu was restored subject to his retirement date. Other reinstated officers include Clement Awoyemi, Bamiselu Oluwaseun, Ahmed Monday, and Imoohi Doora.

Speaking after the plenary, PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd.), said the Commission was committed to handling disciplinary matters promptly to ensure fairness and transparency.

“The Commission will henceforth ensure that pending disciplinary matters are treated with dispatch so that those found culpable face the consequences, while those exonerated continue their career progression,” Argungu stated.
