Kano Pillars Suspend Evans, Garba Over Poor League Form

The management of Kano Pillars Football Club has suspended the team’s Technical Adviser, Ogenyi Evans, and Chief Coach, Ahmed Garba, over what it described as an unacceptable start to the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

In a statement released on Sunday, October 19, 2025, by the club’s Media and Communications Director, Abubakar Isah Dandago, the management said the team’s record of two victories, two draws, and four losses from eight matches fell short of expectations for one of Nigeria’s most successful clubs.

Dandago explained that the decision was aimed at “reinvigorating the team and restoring its competitive edge,” adding that the club remains committed to achieving better results in the coming fixtures.

The management appointed former club captain and assistant coach, Gambo Muhammad, as interim head of the technical crew, to be assisted by goalkeeping coach Suleiman Shuaibu and youth coach Garzali Muhammad, also known as Kusa.

Kano Pillars have also been sanctioned by league authorities following crowd trouble at a recent home match.

The club was fined ₦9.5 million, docked three points and three goals, and ordered to play its next ten home games behind closed doors.

The management urged supporters to remain calm, assuring them that the changes were made in the best interest of the team and its long-term stability.
