Police Arrest Six, Recover Stolen Tricycles, Motorcycles in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has apprehended six individuals linked to a series of tricycle and motorcycle thefts across the state.

The arrests were made by operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as part of intensified efforts to curb theft and other crimes in Kano.

Police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the development in a statement on Monday, the 20th of October, 2025. He said the operation underscored the Command’s “unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents.”

According to him, two suspects Nura Ibrahim (44) from Zaria, Kaduna State, and Sunusi Bala (22) from Gusau, Zamfara State were arrested on October 14, 2025, after they allegedly attempted to steal a tricycle along Airport Road in Kano.

An angry mob had caught the suspects before police officers intervened. “They were rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital for treatment,” Kiyawa said.

Further investigation revealed that the suspects had hired a tricycle rider, administered an intoxicating substance to him, and tried to escape with the vehicle. Their arrest led to the recovery of two additional stolen tricycles in Katsina State and the capture of two alleged accomplices Bashir Muhd (46) and Sunusi Musa (48).

In another raid, police operatives arrested Umar Isah (34) in Na’ibawa Quarters on October 10, 2025, where three stolen motorcycles were recovered. He reportedly admitted to receiving and selling stolen bikes.

Similarly, Idris Isyaku (28) was arrested on October 15, 2025, under the Na’ibawa Flyover after a resident reported suspicious activity. Two motorcycles suspected to have been stolen were recovered from him.

Recovered items include three tricycles and five motorcycles of various makes and colors, some bearing registration numbers and others without.

The Command advised residents who recognize any of the vehicles to reach out to the Investigating Police Officer via 07010161372 or visit the Public Relations Office with proof of ownership.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, urged Kano residents to stay alert and report any suspicious behavior.

“The Command remains steadfast in its resolve to protect lives and property across the state,” he assured.
