The Osun State Government has announced the appointment of Afrobeats megastar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, as the Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund, in a move aimed at revitalising and sustainably financing the state’s sports sector.
Confirming the appointment, the Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Sports, Kola Adewusi, said Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration is fully committed to transforming sports in the state through strategic partnerships and infrastructural development.
Adewusi explained that part of the efforts includes the ongoing renovation of the Osogbo Township Stadium, which he said will soon be completed and upgraded to Olympic standards.
He revealed that the state government is also in the final stages of establishing the Osun State Sports Commission, which will serve as a central body to oversee sports administration, development, and policy implementation.
According to him, the newly introduced Sports Trust Fund, to be chaired by Davido, will attract private and public sector investments from sports philanthropists within and outside the state to ensure sustainable funding for sporting activities.
