The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships with international development institutions to accelerate the completion of strategic road and bridge projects across the country.

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, made this known when he received a delegation from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Regional Hub in Nigeria, led by the Team Leader, Operations, Ibrahim Chalive, during a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja.

According to a statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Mohammed Ahmed, on Thursday, the meeting focused on deepening collaboration between the Federal Ministries of Works, Finance, and the IsDB to fund and implement key components of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Legacy Road Projects.

Umahi emphasised that road infrastructure remains central to Nigeria’s economic transformation agenda, noting that the Ministry of Works is committed to delivering projects in a transparent, innovative, and cost-effective manner.

“Infrastructure remains a major driver of economic growth. President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda accords high priority to road development as a catalyst for economic emancipation, job creation, and the smooth movement of goods and people nationwide,” the minister said.

He expressed appreciation to the National Assembly for its continued support toward infrastructure development, particularly in facilitating funding for key projects aligned with the Renewed Hope initiative.

The minister also commended the Islamic Development Bank for its sustained partnership and investment interest in Nigeria’s infrastructure sector, describing the visit as “a constructive step toward consolidating existing gains and expanding the frontiers of cooperation.”
