Ondo Police Raid Baby Factory, Arrest Operator Over Child Sale

The Ondo State Police Command has uncovered a suspected baby-factory operation in the Ore area of Odigbo Local Government Area, where pregnant teenagers were allegedly held and newborns sold to buyers.

Police spokesperson, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, confirmed the discovery in a statement issued on Sunday, 26 October 2025, in Akure.

He said the operation followed a report made on 21 October 2025, at about 7:50 p.m., by a 17-year-old girl identified as Vivian Peter, who escaped from the facility and alerted the police.

According to the statement, the victim, a native of Ikot Ekpan in Akwa Ibom State, was lured to Ore under the pretext of a job opportunity.

On arrival, she was taken to what appeared to be a clinic, which she later discovered was being used as a baby factory.

Acting on the report, operatives attached to the Ore Division, in collaboration with the command’s Gender-Based Violence Unit, raided the building and rescued five pregnant girls and one baby boy.

One of the victims had already delivered and is receiving post-natal care at the General Hospital in Ore, while the others are in protective police custody.

Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal ordered a comprehensive investigation into the trafficking network and assured that all suspects connected to the crime would be arrested and prosecuted.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to combating all forms of human trafficking in the state.
