The Akarigbo and paramount ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, has called on Nigerians to embrace cultural renaissance as a means of fostering peace, unity, and socio-economic development across the country.
Oba Ajayi made the call on Friday during a press briefing at the Remo Growth and Development Foundation (RGDF) Secretariat in Iperu, Ogun State, ahead of the 2025 Remo Day Celebration scheduled for December 23–27, 2025.
Represented by the Ebi of Idena, Iperu Remo, Oba Lukman Salami, the monarch said this year’s edition, themed “One People, Diverse Cultures, One Identity,” would serve as a cultural spectacle aimed at uniting the Remo people and celebrating their diversity.
He said, “The 2025 Remo Day celebration is another opportunity to celebrate our diverse culture and strengthen our unity as a people. The power of unity remains a strong catalyst for progress, and I urge all Remo indigenes, friends, and associates to be part of this cultural renaissance.”
The Chairman of RGDF, Otunba Seni Adetu, described the celebration as more than a festival, noting that it symbolises a homecoming and a reaffirmation of the collective aspiration of the Remo people.
“Remo Day 2025 promises to be more than a festival—it is a gathering that unites sons and daughters of Remoland from all over the world to celebrate our achievements and renew our commitment to growth and development,” Adetu said.

He disclosed that the week-long celebration would feature a variety of events, including a beauty pageant, dance drama, cultural parades, and a grand unity rally featuring all Remo communities.
Adetu added that the RGDF, established eight years ago under the leadership of the Akarigbo, remains focused on strengthening ties between home and the diaspora while promoting cultural heritage as a driver of development.
Also speaking, the Vice Chairman of RGDF and Chairman of the 2025 Planning Committee, Adewole Sowole, said the festival has helped to deepen unity among over 40 Remo communities. He noted that the planned activities would be held across Sagamu, Ikenne, and Remo North Local Government Areas to ensure inclusiveness.
Sowole appealed for media collaboration to ensure the success of the celebration, while Oba Ajayi reiterated that cultural identity remains vital in promoting patriotism, peace, and national development.
