An Austrian economist, Gunther Fehlinger, who is known for supporting NATO, has asked United States President Donald Trump and the European Union to back the creation of a Biafra Republic.
He took to his official X account on Monday, the 3rd of November, 2025, claiming that Nigeria has collapsed as a country.
Gunther argued that the international community “failed” Biafra between “1967 to 1970 during their liberation war”.
In his words, “I call the EU to recognize the Biafra Republic emerging out of failed #ExNigeria @kajakallas and remind the Free World that we failed Biafra in 1967 to 1970 during their liberation war to our eternal shame.

“We must make up for our failure and endorse the Biafra Republic now @POTUS”.
A separate message shared on Sunday also showed him urging “America to liberate Biafra Republic @Biafra_Govt @BiafraMFA”.
His remarks surfaced at a time when allegations of genocide against Christians in Nigeria continue to spread.
