The Majority Leader of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr. Olatunji Oshati, has denied reports of a crisis within the House and dismissed claims of a plot to impeach the Speaker, Mr. Olamide Oladiji.

The clarification comes after a social media report suggested that some members had passed a vote of no confidence in the Speaker over allegations of gross misconduct and were making arrangements to remove him from office.

In a statement issued on Friday, Oshati described the reports as false, stressing that the House remains united and focused on legislative duties for the development of the state.

“There is no crisis in the Assembly. We are still together performing our legislative duties for the development of the state,” he said.

“Also, there is no impeachment move against Mr Speaker, Rt Hon Olamide Oladiji, and there has never been a topic of discussion on this at either plenary sittings or any of the House parliamentary meetings.”

Oshati assured the people of Ondo State that the House remains committed to people-centered legislation that prioritises the general welfare of citizens.

He added that disagreements are a healthy part of democracy when handled reasonably, and advised journalists to ensure balanced reporting to avoid unnecessary tensions.
