Former Senate President and Chairman of the Board of Governors of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Sen. Ken Nnamani, has called on the Institute to step up the production of research that addresses Nigeria’s governance and development challenges.
Speaking during the inauguration of a new centre at NIPSS in Kuru, Plateau State, Nnamani commended the leadership of the Institute under Director-General Prof. Ayo Omotayo and emphasised the need for bold, high-impact research that can support government decision-making at all levels.
“The Institute will continue to do great things that align with its big name as Nigeria’s foremost and apex centre for policy, research, and reflection for a better Nigeria and human society,” Nnamani said. “Solution-driven research from the Institute must help solve Nigeria’s challenges.”
The former lawmaker also urged the leadership of the Policy, Strategy and Leadership Course (PSLC) Association to project the Institute positively, promote national cohesion, and strengthen collaboration with the NIPSS Alumni Association.

During the event, the national leadership of the PSLC Association, led by its President, Barr. Ekpa Stanley Ekpa, visited the Director-General and Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, as part of activities marking the conclusion of PSLC Diet 56 on November 14, 2025.
Ekpa highlighted the association’s mandate to support the professional advancement of over 5,000 members, collaborate with relevant stakeholders, and give back to the Institute. He also praised NIPSS for establishing the Centre for Gender Excellence in honour of the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, describing it as a vital step toward mainstreaming gender equality and inclusion.
NIPSS, based in Kuru, Plateau State, is Nigeria’s apex institution for policy research, strategic reflection, and leadership training, and Nnamani’s remarks underscore growing expectations for the Institute to provide research-backed solutions to support national stability and long-term development.
