The Oyo State Police Command has announced heightened security measures ahead of the 2025 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention, scheduled for Saturday, November 15, and Sunday, November 16, at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

In a statement dated November 13 and signed by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Osifeso Adewale, the police said they are “ramping up security measures to guarantee a safe and peaceful event,” noting that the convention is expected to attract key political figures, international observers, media representatives, and participants from across the country.

The Command stated that it has developed a robust security strategy in collaboration with other agencies to manage the anticipated large turnout. Measures include proactive patrols, increased surveillance, and intelligence-driven stop-and-search operations across the state.

Security will be particularly tight at entry and exit points into Oyo State, with special attention around Adamasingba. Critical locations such as public parks, train stations, and the Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport in Ibadan will also be closely monitored.

To minimize mobility disruptions, residents have been advised to adjust travel plans and consider alternative routes during the two-day event.

The police also warned against acts capable of disturbing public peace, cautioning that unauthorised rallies or gatherings before, during, or after the convention “will not be tolerated.”

CSP Adewale reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging the public to comply with security guidelines and report any suspicious activities through the Oyo State Call Response Center toll-free line 615, or the Police Command Control Room on 08081768614, 09054133071, and 09061299291.
