Nigeria has been plunged into one of its darkest and most horrifying weeks this year, following a relentless wave of mass abductions, executions and coordinated terrorist assaults across the North.

The scale and brutality of the attacks have ignited widespread fear, outrage and renewed questions about the nation’s collapsing security architecture.

In a disturbing string of incidents, hundreds of Nigerians — from senior military officers to schoolchildren, farmers, worshippers, women and infants — fell victim to Islamist terrorist groups operating with alarming freedom across multiple states.

Senior Military Officer Executed

In Borno State, terrorists abducted and publicly executed Brigadier General Uba and three of his men, an attack security analysts describe as a brazen show of defiance against the Nigerian military.

64 Civilians Taken in Zamfara

In Zamfara’s Tsafe LGA, 64 civilians, including women and children, were abducted as gunmen stormed communities unchallenged.

Schoolgirls Kidnapped in Kebbi

Terrorists invaded a school in Maga, Kebbi State, kidnapping 25 female students and their Principal, while the Vice Principal was shot dead in cold blood.

38 Worshippers Abducted from Church in Kwara

A church in Eruku, Kwara State, was attacked and 38 worshippers were abducted, leaving families devastated and faith communities in shock.

Policeman Killed in Yobe

In Yobe’s Geidam area, a police officer was gunned down during yet another violent attack.

CJTF Members Killed in Borno

Borno State witnessed a second wave of violence as eight members of the Civilian Joint Task Force were killed and three others abducted in Gwoza.

15 Villagers, Including Mothers and Babies, Taken in Sokoto

In Sabon Birni, Sokoto State, terrorists abducted 15 villagers, including four nursing mothers and their babies, and killed two others, highlighting the increased targeting of vulnerable families.

Rice Farmers Murdered in Kwara

Agricultural communities were not spared. In Kwara’s Edu area, four rice farmers were killed, fuelling concerns about rising food insecurity.

52 Students Abducted in Niger State

The horror continued in Niger State, where 52 students were taken from a Catholic school in Agwara, reviving memories of previous mass student kidnappings.

In just one week, more than 200 Nigerians have been abducted, executed or killed, a staggering figure that has amplified fears that insurgent and bandit networks may now be coordinating across states with renewed boldness.

Critics say the security situation has deteriorated to a level that threatens Nigeria’s territorial integrity, with terrorists launching simultaneous operations from the North-East to the North-West and North-Central.

Former minister Femi Fani-Kayode (FFK), reacting to the carnage, delivered a stark warning:

“All this in just one week. May God save Nigeria!”
