ADC NWC Upholds Expulsion of Kogi Rep Member Leke Abejide

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has confirmed the expulsion of Hon. Leke Abejide, lawmaker representing Yagba Federal Constituency of Kogi State in the House of Representatives, from the party over alleged acts of indiscipline.

The the party announced the decision on Thursday, November 27, which was ratified by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ADC at a meeting held same day at the party’s National Headquarters in Abuja.

In a statement signed by Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, the NWC emphasised that it would not tolerate behaviour that undermines the party’s principles.

“The ADC remains committed to building a party governed by discipline, character, and integrity,” the statement said.

The party also instructed the Kogi State leadership to fill all vacant positions in the ward, local government, and state executives in line with the approved transition guidelines.

These measures, the party said, are part of preparations for upcoming party congresses, with timelines to be announced in due course.

Abejide, a former member of the Kogi State House of Assembly, had reportedly clashed with the state leadership over candidate selections and internal appointments, raising grievances about what he described as “marginalisation” within the party.

His dispute reportedly escalated after he accused party officials of flouting the approved guidelines for internal transitions.

As of press time, the lawmakers is yet to publicly react to the expulsion.
