Veteran Actor Olalere OsunPaimo Alive, ANTP Debunks Fake Death Reports

The Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) has dismissed reports claiming veteran Yoruba actor Olalere OsunPaimo is dead.

In a statement on Saturday, ANTP’s PRO, Adejonwo Oluwafemi, confirmed that the actor, popularly known as Baba Eda Onile Ola, is alive and in good health, following confirmation from his wife.

“Baba Eda, Chief Lere Paimo MFR, is NOT dead. He is alive and well. Disregard all rumours,” the association said.

Paimo, a veteran of Yoruba theatre and Nigerian cinema, has a career spanning more than six decades.

As Chairman of ANTP’s Board of Trustees, he continues to promote and develop Nigerian theatre arts.

The false reports trended on social media on Saturday, November 29, 2025, after a post claiming Paimo had died circulated widely.

The claim sparked shock and tributes from fans and colleagues, but industry insiders quickly refuted it, confirming he was simply resting at home.

ANTP urged the public to verify information before sharing to curb the spread of misinformation, warning that such rumours often originate from unscrupulous sources.
