The Department of State Services (DSS) invited Yusuf Datti Baba‑Ahmed, founder of Baze University, for questioning over public comments deemed inciting and potentially undermining national stability on Friday, November 28, 2025.
The invitation follows a series of recent statements by Baba‑Ahmed in which he referred to a “constitutional crisis.”
In a televised appearance, he accused the judiciary and the military of “allowing” the swearing-in of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, claiming this legitimised the administration and enabled the military to “look you in the face and call you ‘bloody fools.’”

Officials expressed concern that such remarks, given Nigeria’s sensitive political climate, could heighten public tension and erode trust in state institutions.
Security sources noted that similar rhetoric has contributed to instability in other countries.
The DSS emphasised that the invitation is preventive rather than punitive, intended to clarify Baba‑Ahmed’s intent, place his remarks in context, and avert the spread of narratives that might inflame unrest.
