Former Osun State Secretary to the Government, Moshood Olalekan Adeoti, has formally withdrawn from Omoluabi Progressives, the caucus loyal to Rauf Aregbesola within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a letter dated November 30, 2025 to the group chairman, Adeoti said he would no longer participate in caucus activities, citing pressure from family to “take a short rest from all political activities.”
Sources say Adeoti’s exit followed an internal mini‑election among the 15 apex leaders of Omoluabi Progressives to select a preferred candidate for the 2026 Osun governorship primary.
Former Speaker of the Osun House of Assembly, Najeem Salaam, reportedly won 11 votes, Adeoti three, and a third aspirant one vote.
The loss of internal support is believed to have prompted his withdrawal.
Adeoti, who once served as Deputy Leader of the caucus, described leaving as difficult given his long-standing commitment to the group.

Political observers say his departure marks a significant fracture in the Aregbesola‑aligned faction and could affect cohesion ahead of the 2026 polls.
The ADC in Osun is expected to formally endorse Salaam as its governorship candidate in the coming weeks.
Adeoti’s exit raises questions about whether he is taking a temporary break or repositioning himself politically.
