Aiyedatiwa Pledges Top Security, Launches Amotekun Command Centre

The Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Monday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring robust security for residents, pledging continued support for the state Security Network Agency, also known as the Amotekun Corps.

Aiyedatiwa made the declaration during the inauguration of the Command and Control Centre and Training Auditorium of the Amotekun Corps in Akure, the state capital. He described security governance as a “continuous journey” that requires both public engagement and unwavering government backing.

The governor said the newly commissioned facility is crucial for enhancing operational efficiency, intelligence coordination, and tactical readiness among Amotekun personnel. “Safeguarding lives and property remains the cornerstone of our administration under the ‘OUR EASE’ policy thrust,” he said.

Commending the corps under the leadership of Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, Aiyedatiwa assured continued provision of logistics, training, welfare, and other resources critical for effective security operations. He added that the prompt release of funds for the facility reflects his administration’s commitment to the professional development and welfare of Amotekun personnel.

The governor also lauded the late former governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, as a visionary whose leadership, alongside other South-West governors, facilitated the creation of the Amotekun Corps.

In his address, Adeleye reiterated Amotekun’s resolve to strengthen security across Ondo State, noting that since its inception in 2020, the locally driven security structure has effectively addressed emerging threats. He said the corps’ success is rooted in policies prioritising operational strength, rapid response, and community-based intelligence.

Amotekun now relies heavily on intelligence-driven operations in both rural and urban areas, and I want to assure our people of the corps’ continued vigilance and proactive responses to threats,” Adeleye said.

The inauguration comes three days after Governor Aiyedatiwa approved the recruitment and training of 500 additional personnel into the Amotekun Corps, part of ongoing efforts to reinforce local security. The governor also inaugurated 130 new Justices of the Peace at the International Culture and Event Centre, Akure, as part of broader security and governance reforms.
