NDDC Boss Ogbuku Bags Tinubu Award, Validates First Daily Honour

The Federal Government has formally nominated the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, for a Distinguished Award for Excellence in Infrastructure Delivery and Sustainable Regional Growth.

A letter dated 21st November 2025, signed by M.S. Danjuma, Permanent Secretary (General Services Office), Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, confirmed the nomination.

According to the letter, the award will be presented by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, on Sunday, 7th December 2025. The honour is part of the Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS) organised in collaboration with The Best Strategic (TBS) Media.

The recognition highlights Dr. Ogbuku’s notable strides in advancing infrastructure development and promoting sustainable growth across the Niger Delta—an achievement that has continued to receive growing national attention.

A Second Major Honour in Weeks

This national nomination comes barely weeks after First Daily Newspaper honoured Dr. Ogbuku as its 2025 Chief Executive of the Year—a highly competitive category acknowledging innovation, integrity, and measurable impact in public service.

First Daily’s editorial board said Dr. Ogbuku emerged winner following an “evidence-based assessment of leadership results, accelerated project delivery, and the reforms that have restored credibility to the NDDC.”

With the new presidential nomination, Dr. Ogbuku’s recognition at First Daily now stands vindicated, reinforcing his rising profile as one of the country’s most effective public sector leaders.

Prestigious Ceremony Ahead

The NEAPS ceremony will have top government officials, diplomats, and national stakeholders in attendance.
Guests are expected to be seated by 4:30 p.m. for the event scheduled for 5:00 p.m.

The award further positions Dr. Ogbuku as a leading example of what transformative leadership can achieve in the Niger Delta.
