Bundesliga side Mainz have parted ways with coach Bo Henriksen after a disappointing start to the 2025-26 season, the club announced on Wednesday. The team, which has managed just one win so far, currently sits at the bottom of the league table.
Henriksen, 50, took over Mainz in February 2024 when the club was nine points from safety. He helped steer the team clear of relegation, losing only two of their final 13 matches, and guided them to sixth place in the Bundesliga last season—equal to the club’s best-ever league finish—securing a spot in the UEFA Conference League.

Since their promotion to the Bundesliga in 2009-10, Mainz has been known as a proving ground for coaching talent. Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and current England coach Thomas Tuchel both began their top-flight careers with the club, while Bayer Leverkusen manager Kasper Hjulmand also started his Bundesliga journey at Mainz.
The club has yet to announce Henriksen’s replacement.
