The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Youth Province 1, has announced that it spent an estimated N40 million on its annual free-bus-to-work initiative, aimed at easing the transportation burden on Lagos residents amid rising living costs.
In a statement released on Friday, the province revealed that this year’s edition of the programme ran from November 24 to December 5, providing both morning and evening buses across major Lagos routes.
The initiative, now in its second year, was executed in collaboration with Youth Provinces 2, 7, 14, 18, and 20 of the church.
According to the statement, the morning service operated along several popular commuter corridors, including Festac to CMS, Oworonshoki to CMS, Redemption City to 7UP, Redemption City to Sagamu, Redemption City to Trinity Towers (VI), Redemption City to Agege, and Ikorodu to Maryland. Free return trips were equally provided in the evenings.
RCCG Youth Province 1 explained that the project was introduced to cushion the impact of Nigeria’s economic challenges, noting that transportation has become one of the most significant daily strains on residents.
“Living costs continue to rise without a corresponding increase in income,” the statement said. “Transportation is a major burden for many Nigerians, and this initiative is our way of lightening that load.”
This year, the church deployed about 10 long yellow buses, serving hundreds of commuters daily.
Pastor Oluwagbemileke Adeboye, Pastor-in-Charge of Youth Province 1, said the church was encouraged by the overwhelming appreciation from commuters and decided to expand the project.
“We did it last year and saw how much relief it brought, so we committed to doing it again,” he said. “Beyond offering transportation, we also see each journey as a chance to share God’s Word, pray, and help people start or end their day with hope. It is open to everyone — regardless of tribe or religion.”
He revealed that the initiative cost about N40 million this year, covering fuel, maintenance, and logistics.

Pastors Martins Olusakin (Assistant Pastor-in-Charge of Province – CSR) and Abiodun Famojuro (Assistant Pastor-in-Charge of Province – Administration) also played major roles in the coordination of the programme. Olusakin noted that beneficiaries have been expressing gratitude both in person and across social media platforms.
“The smiles and relief on commuters’ faces motivate us to continue. Their testimonies show that this support truly matters,” he said.
RCCG Youth Province 1 also disclosed that preparation is in full swing for the Holy Ghost Congress scheduled for the second week of December.
The church has implemented similar interventions in the past. In September 2024, Youth Province 1 launched another round of free bus services across Lagos and Ogun States, introduced to help cushion rising inflation and offer both transportation relief and spiritual support.
