President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the 2026–2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) to the National Assembly, requesting swift approval to guide next year’s budget planning.
The documents were read on the floor of the Senate on Thursday by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin.
In his letter, Tinubu said the fiscal framework—already endorsed by the Federal Executive Council on December 3—was transmitted for the “kind consideration and approval” of the upper chamber.
He noted that the 2026 national budget will be prepared strictly in line with the assumptions and parameters outlined in the approved MTEF and FSP.

The committee is expected to review the fiscal framework and present its report to the Senate by December 17.
