The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced that 23 ships transporting petroleum products, food items, and various industrial goods are expected to arrive at the Apapa and Tin Can Island ports between the 29th and 31st of December, 2025.
This update was contained in the NPA’s most recent Shipping Position report, which was presented to the media in Lagos on Monday, the 29th of December, 2025.
The incoming fleet is carrying a broad spectrum of essential supplies required for both domestic consumption and industrial use. According to the NPA, the vessels are transporting:Crude oil, diesel, fuel oil, aviation fuel, and premium motor spirit (petrol).
Buckwheat, bulk fertiliser, bulk urea, and general cargo, and various containerised items.
The report highlighted that three vessels have already reached the Lagos pilotage district and are currently positioned at the anchorage. These ships, which are “awaiting berthing approval,” are loaded with bulk urea, crude oil, and aviation fuel.

Simultaneously, active operations are ongoing at the terminals, with 20 vessels currently discharging a wide array of consignments, including:Frozen fish, soya beans, bulk sugar, bulk gas, base oil, containerised merchandise, aviation fuel and petrol.
The NPA characterised the arrival of these ships as a positive indicator of the nation’s supply chain health, stating that the “steady flow of vessels reflects ongoing port activity and sustained importation of essential commodities into the country.”
The influx ensures that critical sectors, particularly energy and food supply, continue to receive the necessary inputs during the final days of the year.
