The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has deployed 1,700 officers for 24‑hour traffic monitoring across the state, part of an expanded control strategy ahead of the festive period.
The agency’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare‑Oki, made the disclosure on Monday, December 29, 2025, in Lagos during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.
Tagged “Operation Ember Months Stability,” the initiative was launched in mid‑November 2025 to oversee major corridors including Ikorodu Road, the Apapa‑Oshodi Expressway, the Lekki‑Epe Corridor, and Agege Motor Road.

Bakare‑Oki explained that officers work in three shifts: morning (6 a.m.–2 p.m.), afternoon (2 p.m.–10 p.m.), and night (9 p.m.–6 a.m.) to ensure continuous supervision.
He added that the expanded deployment aims to improve road safety, ease congestion, and provide rapid response to incidents, particularly during the heightened movement of the “ember months” festive period.
