LASTMA Unveils Media Traffic Mayor Initiative to Boost Mobility in Lagos

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has introduced a Media Traffic Mayor initiative to strengthen traffic management and improve mobility across the state.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, announced the development in a statement issued on Sunday, August 24, in Lagos.

He explained that the initiative is designed to support and complement the efforts of LASTMA officers in maintaining traffic order, safety, and urban mobility.

Bakare-Oki said the new measure would serve as an additional tool in tackling the city’s long-standing traffic challenges, stressing that the involvement of media representation would help in promoting awareness, public engagement, and compliance among road users.

Established in 2000, LASTMA is tasked with controlling and managing traffic within Lagos State.

Over the years, the agency has introduced several reforms, including technology-driven traffic monitoring systems and public sensitisation campaigns, to ease congestion and improve safety on the roads.

Traffic congestion remains one of Lagos’s major challenges, with the state government consistently rolling out policies aimed at reducing delays and improving urban transportation.

The Media Traffic Mayor initiative is expected to further enhance these efforts.
