Soludo Vows to Revamp Anambra Schools, Pledges More Teachers for Quality Education

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming the state’s education sector, promising to recruit more teachers to enhance the quality of learning in public schools.

Soludo made the remarks on Friday during the 50th anniversary celebration of Uga Boys Secondary School, his alma mater, in Aguata Local Government Area. The governor, a pioneer student of the school, recalled serving as Library Prefect and later Senior Prefect before graduating in 1980.

He noted that the school, formerly Uga Secondary School, was one of only four secondary schools in the area at the time and played a key role in shaping his educational foundation.

Expressing gratitude to the school’s founders, teachers, and host community, Soludo praised his former teachers as dedicated, competent, and professional. He assured that his administration would continue to provide a conducive learning environment, adding, “Education remains a top priority. Our vision is to revitalise public schools across the state, building on the enduring legacy of institutions such as Uga Boys Secondary School.”

Earlier, the school’s Principal, Mr. Benjamin Igwema, commended the governor for his transformative interventions in the education sector. He highlighted recent reconstruction works that have improved the school’s learning environment and praised Soludo’s free education policy, including the sponsorship of West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) fees, which have boosted student enrolment and expanded opportunities for learners.
