Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has returned to Abuja following an extended political tour of Rivers State that lasted 17 days.
The former Rivers State governor had embarked on what was described as a “thank you” visit across several local government areas in the state, a move that also served to reinforce his political influence and grassroots structures.
Throughout the tour, Wike openly challenged his political opponents, delivering pointed remarks that underscored his continued dominance in the state’s political space.
During his engagements, the FCT minister reaffirmed his commitment to mobilising support in Rivers State for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
He maintained that the state would adopt what he described as a “rainbow coalition,” with both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) working together to secure Tinubu’s victory.

Wike also used the platform to revive his rivalry with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, cautioning that public support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition would not automatically translate into the APC’s governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.
After concluding his visit to Port Harcourt on Sunday, Wike departed for Abuja.
His return was confirmed by his media aide, Lere Olayinka, who disclosed the development in a post on Facebook, noting that the minister had wrapped up his 17-day tour of Rivers State local government areas.
