Bandits Attack Sokoto Community, Kill Scores, Abduct Many

Bandits loyal to notorious kingpin, Bello Turji, have attacked Lugu village in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The terrorists reportedly killed and injured several residents and abducted at least 15 people, including men and women.

According to a post shared on X by a security analyst, Bakatsine, on Thursday, the attack occurred on Wednesday night.

Confirming the attack to First Daily correspondent on phone, the spokesperson for the Sokoto State Police Command, DSP Ahmed Rufai, on Thursday said the attack was suspected to have been carried out by gunmen allegedly loyal to bandit leader Bello Turji.

The development comes a day after bandits suspected to be Turji’s fighters raided Gajit village, where they injured people and kidnapped at least 20 residents.

Bakatsine wrote: “ALERT: Last night, bandits loyal to the notorious leader Bello Turji attacked Lugu village in Isa LGA of Sokoto State, killing and injuring several residents and abducting at least 15 people, including men and women.

“For how long will Turji and his men continue to destabilise communities across the Sokoto East District?

“What concrete steps are being taken by security agencies to end these repeated attacks?”
