Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf is currently in a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The governor walked into the villa around 4:10 pm on Monday, January 19, for the meeting, which is holding in the President’s office.
The visit comes amid ongoing speculation about Governor Yusuf’s possible move from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sources indicate that discussions about the defection have hit a roadblock over disagreements on whether the governor should be guaranteed the APC’s governorship ticket for 2027 without facing a primary election.
Talk of the governor switching parties has dominated headlines in recent weeks and has created friction between his supporters and those loyal to Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, his political mentor and NNPP leader.
The meeting with President Tinubu is believed to be linked to the ongoing defection negotiations.
