Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has dismissed claims suggesting that he is backing any individual or making promises regarding party tickets ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor addressed the matter on Sunday, the 25th of January, 2026, during a stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akure, where party leaders and members convened to discuss internal affairs.
Although Ondo State is not due for a governorship election in 2027, political activities within the APC have been gaining momentum, particularly among members aspiring for elective positions in both state and national assemblies.
Aiyedatiwa warned party members against spreading unverified information, emphasizing that such narratives could cause divisions and undermine party unity.
He explained that the clarification was necessary due to growing speculation as preparations for party primaries gather pace.
The governor stated that he has neither endorsed any aspirant nor offered assurances regarding candidacies for legislative positions.

“In the political space, falsehoods, insinuations and assumptions often circulate with the aim of creating divisions.
I want to make it clear that I have not promised anyone a ticket. I have not assured anyone of a ticket for either the state or national assembly, nor have I indicated that anyone will be denied a return ticket,” Aiyedatiwa said.
He further urged party members to prioritize unity and collective progress, stressing that fairness and due process would guide all forthcoming party activities.
