Super Falcons Head To Abidjan For WAFU B Four-Nation Tournament Ahead of 2026 WAFCON

The Super Falcons of Nigeria will compete in the West African Football Union (WAFU B) Four-Nation Tournament as part of their preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The tournament is scheduled to hold in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from 27 February to 7 March 2026, and will serve as a key build-up event ahead of the continental showpiece billed for 17 March to 3 April 2026.

Hosts Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal will battle for honours in the competition, which is expected to provide the participating teams with valuable match exposure and an opportunity to fine-tune tactics before WAFCON.

 

For the Super Falcons, the Abidjan tournament offers a platform to assess squad depth, test combinations and sharpen competitive readiness as they target another strong outing at the Africa Cup of Nations. Nigeria, the most successful team in the history of the competition, will be aiming to use the regional tournament to build momentum and cohesion within the squad.

Officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) see the WAFU B Four-Nation Tournament as a crucial step in ensuring the Super Falcons arrive in Morocco fully prepared to challenge for continental honours.

The 2026 WAFCON in Morocco is expected to attract significant attention, with Africa’s top women’s national teams set to compete for the title and qualification spots for global tournaments.
