United States President Donald Trump has launched a fresh public broadside against the Grammy Awards and its host, Trevor Noah, describing the prestigious music ceremony as “unwatchable” and threatening legal action over remarks he claims were defamatory.
In a strongly worded statement posted on his Instagram page on Monday, Trump criticised the Grammys as “the worst” awards show, accusing the organisers and broadcaster of declining standards and poor ratings. He also took direct aim at Trevor Noah, comparing him unfavourably to late-night host Jimmy Kimmel and questioning Noah’s credibility and relevance.
Trump’s anger appeared to centre on comments Noah allegedly made during the ceremony, in which he referenced Trump in connection with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The former president vehemently denied ever visiting Epstein Island or being associated with Epstein’s crimes, insisting that no credible media outlet has ever accused him of such conduct.
“Wrong!!!” Trump wrote, stressing that while he could not speak for former President Bill Clinton, he had “never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close.” He described Noah’s remarks as “false and defamatory” and warned that his legal team was prepared to pursue a lawsuit against the comedian and possibly CBS, which previously aired the awards.

The former president also used the post to criticise the Grammys’ overall quality, claiming the ceremony had become irrelevant and offensive, while vowing to “have some fun” pursuing the matter legally.
Neither Trevor Noah nor the Recording Academy had issued an official response at the time of filing this report.
Trump’s remarks have since sparked widespread debate online, reigniting discussions about free speech, political commentary in entertainment spaces, and the increasingly blurred line between pop culture and partisan politics.
