The All Progressives Congress has dismissed allegations by the African Democratic Congress that civil servants are being coerced into registering for the ruling party’s ongoing e-registration exercise, describing the claims as “entirely false and baseless.”
In a statement issued on Monday, February 2, by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC accused the ADC of running a disinformation campaign designed to undermine the success of its membership registration drive.
“Terrified by massive All Progressives Congress (APC) membership registration in the ongoing electronic-registration exercise, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has spewed a nonsensical allegation that civil servants were being pressured to participate in our Party’s E-Registration exercise,” the statement read.
“That claim is entirely false and baseless, and seeks to cast a shadow over the cutting-edge and pathbreaking digitization of our Party’s membership register.”
The APC alleged that the ADC’s accusations are part of a broader disinformation strategy that has included fabricating and circulating a fake “APC membership slip” claiming a notorious terrorist had registered as a party member.
The ruling party maintained that millions of Nigerians have been registering voluntarily and enthusiastically due to the visible gains of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Inspired by visible gains and impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda, millions of Nigerians have registered and continue to register, voluntarily and enthusiastically, as members of our Party, compelling our leadership to yield to popular demand to extend the period of registration from January 31 to February 8, 2026,” the statement said.
The APC suggested that the ADC’s allegations stem from intimidation over the success of the e-registration exercise.
“Clearly, the ADC is intimidated by the phenomenal success of our Party’s E-Registration exercise, for obvious reasons.
“However, that cannot justify concocting and spewing lies in an attempt to smear the exercise,” the statement read.
The ruling party concluded by dismissing the opposition’s criticism and reaffirming its commitment to digital and democratic innovation.
“While the ADC continues to fumble and peddle falsehood, our great Party remains focused on its onward march as Africa’s standard-bearer of digital and democratic innovation,” the statement said.
The APC’s response follows an earlier statement by the ADC on Sunday, February 1, in which the opposition party expressed “deep concern” over reports from several states indicating that civil servants and government workers were being coerced to register for the APC’s e-registration exercise.
