Proceedings in the alleged misappropriation case involving former Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, have been adjourned to April 15, as the court moves to consider several outstanding applications filed by parties in the matter.
The case, before a Kano State High Court, involves Ganduje and his wife, Hafsat Umar, who are facing an 11-count charge bordering on bribery, conspiracy, diversion, and misappropriation of public funds running into billions of naira.
They are being tried alongside Abubakar Bawuro, Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, as well as Lamash Properties Ltd, Safari Textiles Ltd, and Lasage General Enterprises Ltd.
At the latest sitting, the prosecution, led by state counsel Victor Oni, informed the court of its readiness to proceed.
He also notified the court of an application dated November 24, 2025, seeking permission to file additional proof of evidence against the defendants.
On the defence side, lead counsel Lydia Oluwakemi-Oyewo said the defence was equally prepared to continue but drew attention to a motion dated July 17, 2025, requesting a stay of proceedings.

Counsel representing the third and seventh defendants, Adekunle Taiye-Falola, also confirmed readiness for the hearing and referenced a motion filed on May 23, 2025.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Shehu, counsel to the fifth defendant, told the court that an affidavit had been filed to notify it of a pending application for stay of proceedings before the Court of Appeal.
In the same vein, Abubakar Ahmad, counsel to the sixth defendant, informed the court that he had filed a preliminary objection along with an application for extension of time to respond on points of law, dated February 2.
He requested that a date be fixed for the hearing of his application.
Counsel to the eighth defendant, Faruk Asekome, also indicated readiness to proceed.
After listening to all submissions, the trial judge, Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu, adjourned the case until April 15 for the hearing of all preliminary objections and pending applications.
