Troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, on Wednesday, announced the clearance of terrorists camp operating in Kogi State, recovering a cache of arms and ammunition.
The operation targeted a notorious group linked to Kachalla Ibrahim and Shu’aibu, whose activities have posed security challenges in parts of the state.
According to a statement shared on the Nigerian Army’s Facebook page on Wednesday, the troops advanced through dense forest, difficult terrain, and riverine obstacles to reach the terrorist enclave.
Despite severe movement constraints caused by fallen trees and marshy ground, the soldiers maintained momentum, demonstrating resilience and tactical discipline throughout the operation.
In a bold move to achieve surprise, the troops dismounted and advanced on foot, enabling them to penetrate deep into the camp’s location.
The operation was personally led by the Commander, 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi.
The approach reportedly caught the terrorists off guard, forcing them to flee upon sighting the advancing troops.
A thorough sweep of the area led to the recovery of significant quantities of arms and ammunition, including eight boxes of 7.62 x 54 link ammunition containing bandoliers of 250 rounds each, as well as one box of high-velocity grenades.

Military officials said the recoveries have substantially degraded the group’s operational capability and disrupted its logistics base.
Following the clearance, the camp was systematically destroyed and set ablaze to prevent any attempt at reoccupation.
Troops have since intensified patrols and sustained offensive operations in the surrounding areas to track fleeing members of the group and prevent regrouping.
The Nigerian Army said the success of Operation IGBO IDANU I underscores its continued commitment to dismantling terrorist strongholds, safeguarding communities, and restoring lasting peace and security in the region.
